Blue & White 2010 Results: White 27, Blue 28

Posted by Breton on October 31, 2010

Coach Rankin’s White team outlasted Coach Bonnette’s Blue team in a one-point affair settled by a matter of seconds. Blue team’s Nick Vadino led by example, taking the race out from the gun an going through the fast first mile in 5:30. The White team, in pack formation, led close behind with Blue’s Dan Marino and Matt Gentek in hot pursuit. In the end, however, the White pack of Boldurian (who won Most Improved on the day), Gallagher, and Booth prevailed. Jake Durante-Koller won most improved freshman after registering a 12:02, good for a :46 second improvement from earlier in the year at the Cherokee Challenge. All in all, even with the drop in temperature, it was a good day as we transition into the Championship Season.

Thank you to those who came out in the cold and those brave parents and siblings who opted to test out the 2-mile Borton Mill course full of odd turns and “rabid” dogs. There was also a crazy man on the loose dressed in a “Scarecrow” costume, chasing people with a broom.

On to South Jersey Parochials! Keep a look out for pictures and video…congratulations to the White team. Blue owes you dinner.

By the way, if you haven’t noticed already – the majority of our team unleashed an impressive barrage on the Times 2007- list after Thursday’s Haddonfield Sub-Varsity Invitational. Make sure you click on the Times 2007- and check out just how well they did. Biggest PRs on the day? George Balzer went from 19:04 to 18:06, Robert Cleary went from 20:59 to 19:39, Anthony Feeney went from 19:49 to 19:10, and last but not least, Anthony Rizzo went from 21:04 to 19:53. All freshmen. Senior C.J. Grenier also shaved over a minute off his time, running a solid 24:59!!

Pretty impressive!
