Paul VI’s Cross Country season will start off on WEDNESDAY, JUNE 22, 2011. We will meet in front of Paul VI HS, starting at 6:00PM!
Immediately following practice, we will have a kickoff barbeque (all thanks to the parents) over at Newton Creek. Directions will be handed out at the Paul VI parking lot before practice.
While we countdown the days until XC, we still have a couple guys still competing in the Spring Track season. Senior Tom Hoban and sophomore Neil MacFarlane have both qualified for States in the 1600 and the 3200 respectively. Tom finished 6th in 4:30 to qualify and Neil ran 10:14 to finish 7th (on a hot, sweltering day). Neil had previously run a solid 9:57 in the 3200 at the South Jersey Open earlier this year.
A couple other efforts should be recognized – freshman George Balzer ran a solid 10:30 to finish 6th at Camden Counties, Nick Vadino finished out the year with a solid 4:54 at Sectionals, and Peter Gallagher did the same – running 4:40 and 2:07 to end his season. Soon-to-be senior Chris Booth broke 11 minutes in the 2 mile earlier in the season to register a PR on the year.
Unfortunately, Coach Rankin and I weren’t part of the Spring Track coaching crew this season but plenty of the guys picked up where they left off in Cross Country. A testament to their hard work and diligence.
States are this weekend so keep your eyes peeled out for Neil and Tom. Good luck!
