Several Paul VI XC graduates wrapped up their 2011 collegiate spring track seasons recently and we wanted to recap quickly exactly how well they did.

Mike Rankin ’10, at St. Joseph’s and currently coached by former Paul VI coaching legend Mike Glavin, wrapped up an impressive freshman campaign registering huge PRs in the 1500m at 3:58 and the 5,000m with a 14:48.

Brian Walter ’10 followed suit and put in one hell of a winter and spring track season for Fordham University. Walter shattered his high school PRs and set himself up for glory amidst a talented young group of runners. He was part of a 4x800m relay that earned 2nd team All-East honors running 7:26 (a little under 1:52 a man). Brian ran a 1:52. He also got the opportunity to run at the Penn Relays in front of over 40,000 with that same relay.

Alec Connelly ’09, following a breakout XC season for Rutgers-Camden (led by another former Paul VI coach, Joe Puleo), put in some impressive performances during the winter and spring seasons as well. He finished 6th at his conference meet (NJAC), running 16:21 in the 5,000m. His PRs for the season were 16:08 in the 5,000m and 8:51 in the 3,000m (9:28 equivalent for the 3200m!).
Please join us in congratulating them all on impressive seasons - we really couldn’t be prouder.
