Team Awards

Team Awards will be given out at the PVI XC Banquet following the conclusion of the season. The Most Valuable Runner and the Eagle Award will subsequently be honored at the Paul VI High School Athletic Banquet.

The Team, 2010

MOST VALUABLE RUNNER

This award is given to the PVI XC athlete who contributed most to the team’s success. He is the person that led by example. Despite being the number one runner on the team, this athlete also displayed a blend of hard work, “coachability”, and the desire to make him as well as the rest of the team better.

IRONMAN

This award is given to the hardest worker day in and day out. Those eligible for this award must characterize a firm commitment to the team through attendance of practices and summer training, a leading work ethic, and he must be one of the best “racers” on the squad.

MOST IMPROVED

This award is given to the runner(s) who made the most significant improvements – regarding time and effort – from his previous year’s performance or from the beginning of the season to the end.

LEADERSHIP AWARD

Nick Vadino and Nick Lamberto, Leadership Award Recipients 2010

This award is given to the upperclassman who makes the coaches job infinitely easier just by being at practice. His leadership involves being a role model for the team in training, races, as well as outside of athletics. As a junior or a senior, he possesses unwavering character, commitment, and is able to effectively convey his knowledge of racing to other runners.

THE EAGLE AWARD (Coaches’ Award)

Neil MacFarlane, 2010 Coaches Award Recipient

The Eagle Award is one given to the athlete who contributed the most to the team regarding team spirit and character. He is the Coaches’ pick because whatever you ask him to do, he will do that and more if necessary. This person shows a genuine interest in the health of the team and a passion for cross country regardless of previous experience.
